Baby Davis Update (June 4)

The last doctor appointment went great. We got to see her, again, and she’s growing so, so much right now. We actually got a photo of her looking at us with her eyes open and smiling. It was quite awesome (& a bit emotional, too)!!  Babycenter.com compares her to a cantaloupe and says she’s about 18 inches long.

She weighed 4 pounds and 2 ounces last Tuesday so she may be up to 5 pounds now. I feel like she is. I’ve started noticing the Braxton Hicks contractions more and more. For my girlfriends that don’t know what those are, they are false contractions allowing my body to practice for the real ones. :-) They come are such random times and can be pretty intense. The first one scared the crap out of me because Brian was out of town.

June 17th (Week 36) starts our weekly doctor’s appointment. I can’t believe we are to that point already. I have a co-worker that’s due the same time and we are both amazed at how quickly time has passed.

Her nursery is 85-90% competed and we’re pretty happy with it. We are going to put her name on the wall where the changing table is. We also still have to get a mattress and put together the glider/rocker. That will go where the basinet is and the basinet will be moved into our room.

There are a few more odds and ends we have to wrap up but if she was to arrive today we would be very comfortable bring her home.

I got home yesterday and Brian had already put together the travel system (stroller/car seat) and was installing the new light we got for her room last weekend.

We had such a fabulous time at each Baby Shower! We are so very blessed to have received a ton of much needed items for our little girl. We are truly blessed with caring and thoughtful family members and friends.

With six weeks to go, I’m pretty much just hanging out around the house, playing in my flower beds or trying to plan/organize everything (which I know you can’t do) before she gets here.

Brian has his hands full with the NCAA baseball championship. His biggest fear is that I go into labor while he’s out of town (that’s actually mine too).

We look forward to sharing at least a couple more e-mail updates before her arrival NEXT MONTH. WOW!!!

Shush! Time to sleep, at least that's what she was doing on this doctor's visit on May 27.
